Ethiopian Cargo & Logistics Services, the largest air cargo network operator in Africa has won the “Best Cargo Airline-Africa” award at the Arabian Cargo Awards, held for the first time in the Cargo category, on October 24 in Dubai, UAE.

Arabian Cargo Awards is a GCC-based platform with a vision to recognize those behind the success of the Cargo & Logistics Industry. It is the region’s first internet voting based award.

Ethiopian Partners with UNICEF for Global Vaccine Distribution

Ethiopian Airlines, the multi-award winning and largest airline in Africa is pleased to announce that it has become one of the leading airlines in the world to have partnered with UNICEF to help secure the transport of vaccines and other life-saving supplies worldwide. Ethiopian has committed to prioritizing the transport of the life-saving supplies, ensuring measures such as temperature control and security and adding freight capacity to routes where needed.

The UNICEF Humanitarian Airfreight Initiative has been formed with leading global airlines to support the COVAX Facility, a global solution to the COVID-19 pandemic that ensures participating countries have fair access to vaccines, regardless of their income level.

Ethiopian Brings Convenience to Cargo Customers through Digitized Service

Ethiopian Airlines, the Largest Aviation Group in Africa and SKYTRAX Certified Four Star Global Airline, introduced a mobile app and chatbot-assisted shipment tracking service to elevate cargo customers’ experience.

The mobile app, which is now available for Android, will bring convenience to Ethiopian Cargo & Logistics Services customers through a range of self-service features including checking flight schedule, cargo tracking and charter requests at the swipe of a finger, while the Ethiopian Chatbot enables customers to access up-to-date information and track their shipment on Messenger and Telegram.

“As a customer-centric airline, we always seek ways to better serve our customers and bring more digital options to their fingertips,” says Miretab Teklaye, Director Group Integrated Marketing Communications at Ethiopian. “The newly unveiled cargo mobile app and chatbot-assisted cargo tracking service will bring convenience for our customers allowing them to access real-time updates about their shipments and to process their charter requests. Its Operations in the Wake of COVID-19 Ethiopian Cargo Recalibrates Its Operations in the Wake of COVID-19

Ethiopian Cargo & Logistics Services, the multiple award-winning and largest cargo network operator in Africa, is adapting its operations to the evolving global demand for air cargo services following the COVID-19 pandemic. In response to the current situation, Ethiopian Cargo has extended its reach to 74 destinations globally, and caters to charter flight needs anywhere in the world boundlessly, carrying much needed medical supplies in the ongoing fight against COVID-19.

In the month of March alone, Ethiopian transported a total uplift of over 45,848 tons of cargo to different parts of the world deploying both its freighters and passenger fleet. The shipments include pharmaceuticals, medical supplies and healthcare products carried with 86 charter flights using B777 freighters, each with a capacity of 100 tons, in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Agility being a key part of our competencies, we have recalibrated our cargo operations and networks in light of the current demand in air cargo business,” says Tewolde GebreMariam, Ethiopian Group CEO. “We are carrying medical supplies in both scheduled and charter flights using the cabin and belly hold of our passenger aircraft besides our cargo fleet. Despite the grim situation the world is grappling with, we feel heartened by the small contribution we are making to curb further loss of lives by carrying critical medical supplies where they are needed the most. I would like to thank my colleagues at Ethiopian Cargo & Logistics Services who are working 24/7 to provide air cargo service the world needs critically in this difficult time.”
